Unlock New Ideas: Your Blank Napkin for Creative Problem-Solving

Napkin Sketch
The Creative Problem-Solving System (CPS) is a structured approach developed by Alex Osborn and Professor Sid Parnes, designed to spark personal and professional transformation by empowering individuals with deliberate creativity skills. This system outlines a process that begins with implementing a solution, then refining the goal if necessary, generating new ideas, and applying those ideas to a solution. Professor Parnes emphasized that creativity is our most significant human gift, responsible for all progress. Their work led to The Creative Education Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to fostering deliberate creativity. The Osborn-Parnes Method, loosely outlined, involves: Clarify (setting goals, gathering info, identifying challenges), Ideate (generating ideas without judgment), Develop (turning ideas into solutions, evaluating, improving, selecting), and Implement (exploring acceptance, identifying resources and actions). This process is rooted in the belief that everyone is creative and can learn creative skills. If implementation fails, the process restarts by refining goals, as it is an iterative process. Have a happy, and very creative, new year. Here’s your napkin.
