Custom Powder's key takeaways from the RAPID + TCT 2019 Additive Manufacturing Conference include insights into challenges with 50 lb powder containers, the growing need for surplus powder reclaim systems, and the demand for blending raw and reclaimed powder before feeding AM processes. We observed a strong need for larger batch sizes for blending and feeding, despite current supplier methods. Air quality emissions and health exposure are also critical concerns. We are actively developing solutions for these issues, including systems for filling multiple machines from a single source bin and addressing the handling of engineered polymer compounds. Our team, including Chris Volz and Bob Luebbe, identified these areas as crucial for improving quality and decreasing labor in additive manufacturing.
